Common questions

My photo didn't convert well

Photos with clear edges and good separation between the subject and the background convert best. Busy backgrounds, heavy shadows, and very low-light photos give BrushMark less to work with. Try a picture with more contrast, or crop tighter on the subject before importing. Choosing a higher level of detail also helps, since more colors pick up more of the picture.

I tapped a shape and nothing happened

That shape belongs to a different color. BrushMark only fills a shape with the color it was given, so tapping with any other one does nothing but buzz gently. Look at the number inside the shape, choose that color in the tray, and tap again. If the number is too small to read, pinch to zoom in — and the hint button will take you straight to the next shape for the color you are already on.

How do I get my finished painting off my phone?

When you fill the last shape, the finished screen offers Save to Photos and Share. Save to Photos puts the painting in your photo library, from where you can print or send it like any other image.

I want a refund

Purchases and subscriptions made inside the app are handled by Apple, not by us, so refund requests go through Apple's own process at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something went wrong on our end, write to us anyway and we'll help you make the case.

How do I delete my data?

BrushMark has no accounts, so there is no account to delete and nothing of yours is stored on our servers. To remove a single picture, open the gallery, press and hold it, choose Delete, and confirm — that erases that picture and its progress immediately, and it cannot be undone. To remove all of them at once, open Settings and choose Delete everything in BrushMark. Deleting the app from your device clears everything BrushMark saved.

None of this touches your photo library. BrushMark only ever works on its own copy of a photo you bring in. The one permission it has in Photos is to add a finished painting when you ask it to — it cannot delete anything there, and your originals are never at risk.
